oh the places you'll go...

happy birthday dr. suess. tonight i read dr. seuss books for a good hour or so while marc is slaving away at his other home (aka weber state, weber state, great! great! great!) oh the life of a student's wife...back to dr. seuss, he truly is amazing. here are a few favorite memories and lessons learned thanks to a great man...

how the grinch stole christmas-every christmas eve growing up my sister kayla and i would 'build a tent' in our bedroom made of blankets, read dr. seuss's 'how the grinch stole christmas' with a flashlight, then sleep in our tent...some of my greatest memories...i've never missed a year...the tradition still lives on...

oh say can you say?-clearly a classic! if you've never read this trumultulous toungue twister then you must! it is impossible to read and not smile:) i remember my mom reading this to me and kayla and we would just laugh and laugh and laugh! good times...

horton hears a who!-a person's a person no matter how small...:)

the lorax-stop making thneeds! a thneed's a fine-something-that-all-people-need, but a thneed needs trees to succeed! and if we cut down all the truffula trees, we won't have clean water, or air, or what we really need! read this book and you will want to recycle, and walk where you could've drove, and use cloth diapers (another post coming...) and give a little to mother earth that gives us so much beauty...

the sneetches-'the day they decided that sneetches are sneetches, and no kind of sneetch is the best on the beaches. that day, all the sneetches forgot about stars and whether they had one, or not, upon thars.' hopefully we can get this smart one day:)

oh, the places you'll go!

i'm afraid that some times
you'll play lonely games too.
games you can't win
'cause you'll play against you.

all alone!
whether you like it or not,
alone will be something
you'll be quite a lot

and when you're alone, there's a very good chance
you'll meet things that scare you right out of your pants.
there are some, down the road between hither and yon,
that can scare you so much you won't want to go on.

but on you will go
though the weather be foul.
on you will go
though your enemies prowl.
on you will go
through the Hakken-Kraks howl.
onward up many
a frightening creek,
though your arms may get sore
and your sneakers may leak.

on and on you will hike.
and i know you'll hike far
and face up to your problems
whatever they are.'

i love to think of the places we'll go...don't care where, just so long as we're together! read a dr. seuss book, i promise you will smile. if you don't have a dr. seuss book, buy one, everyone needs at least one...
